Abstract: With the development of semantic Web and the popularity of OWL (Web ontology language), more and more large-scale ontologies are being developed in various fields, some of them have evolved through a number of versions. There is an increasing need for finding a simple and effective way to analyze their evolution. Inspired by some related works about analyzing and designing ontology metrics, this paper presents four ontology metrics on OWL Property-level and selects large ontologies OpenGALEN and OpenCyc that have different versions as the datasets, then designs a tool based on OWL-API to calculate ontology metrics at Ontology-level, Class-level and Property-level. In the end, this paper analyzes the experimental results and the meaning of ontology metrics, and points out some features of ontology metrics in different ontology versions.
